Falling Out of Love With Shopping.

25/11/2018

I’ve had a bit of a ~realisation~ over the last couple of months… I’ve realised I f*cking hate shopping.

After a summer of tbh not loving how I was feeling or what I was wearing I’ve finally worked it out… It’s the actual shopping part that I’ve been hating, not so much how I feel in the clothes themselves…

I’d gotten so used to panic buying which was then resulting in panic dressing and therefore ~panic outfit hating~. I know right, not a great combination of things… But instead of getting into a wardrobe, outfit shaming whole I decided it was time to change a couple of things…

Time to slow down, enjoy the process again, fall back in love with styling actual ~outfits~ and most importantly, just have more fun with it all!

So, that’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve started being more organised. Ordering clothes in advance for special occasions and giving myself time to enjoy trying them on. Picking pieces I might never usually or going for something, ya know, just for fun…

I know it sounds so bloody simple to say but just giving yourself time to calmly try new pieces on is so valuable. Forget the last minute ASOS shops that make you feel like shit. I mean, I know we all gotta last minute shop sometimes, but it was becoming my everytime… I had completely sucked the fun out of shopping itself and the thought of trying on clothes for a wedding or event gave me serious “they’re all gonna look shit fear”… Wellll no more! I’m seeing it in a whole new way.

I’ve been doing a whole lot less shopping itself and am giving myself time to really decide if I love the pieces I do buy enough to keep them. Taking the time to try them on whilst enjoying it, discovering new styles, trying pieces that I never would have in the past and all whilst having a ~way~ more positive and healthy attitude towards it.

So that’s the plan. Less shopping + more fun = more quality pieces that make me feel good. Time to try on, enjoy, and love what I’m wearing all over again. Let me know if you ReLaTe at all? Or if you too have felt the strain of the last minute shop?

One to hit save for if you’re heading to London One to hit save for if you’re heading to London anytime soon. We’d seen so much goodness about @fortitudebakehouse we had to give it a visit & it did not disappoint.

We tried the rose water cream scone with raspberry jam , a cream filled apricot beignet and a spinach & feta pastry. All absolutely delicious but the pasty was my favourite. We didn’t have to queue for long & it’s got a really lovely buzz to it with lots of benches outside for coffee & pastry eating!
